Community is EVERYTHING

At FMC Books, our community is built one book club and one flash mob at a time. These gatherings aren’t just events—they’re rituals of connection, chaos, and mutual obsession. Whether you're whispering about spice levels over snacks or showing up in a corset to storm downtown with fellow book lovers, you’re part of the magic. We believe in low-pressure meetups, high-impact friendships, and the kind of joy that only comes from giggling about fictional men in public. This is how we make space—for readers, for weirdos, and for each other. (Double check the calendar for the most up to date info, this is a nightmare to update.)

  • 4/3 First Friday

Julie LaFromboise, our featured First Friday artist, is a lifelong Missoula resident, mother of three, and preschool teacher who has spent more than 22 years caring for and teaching young children. In February 2025, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer and has since been unable to work while undergoing aggressive treatment. Julie continues to face each day with remarkable strength and hope. Proceeds from the sale of her artwork during April will help support her family and cover medical expenses. Join us April 3rd for her opening night!

  • 4/4 Pop Up Crawl w Ephemeral Arts

Justice founded Ephemeral Arts in June 2023 as a celebration of life’s fleeting moments. Their work invites viewers to slow down, notice the details, and appreciate the beauty of the present. Rooted in the belief that impermanence holds its own kind of power, each piece encourages curiosity, reflection, and a deeper awareness of the world around us.

Come see what she has in store for you at the Pop Up Crawl on National Handmade Day, brought to you by Missoula Makers!

  • 4/15 Let’s get stabby. 🪡

Join us for Knot Your Grandma’s: Beginner Embroidery Night on Wenesday, April 15 at FMC Books. Ciana will guide you through the basics of embroidery—thread, needle, fabric, and a few foundational stitches—so you can start turning hundreds of tiny, satisfying stabs into something unexpectedly beautiful. No experience required, just a willingness to get a little stabby.

Kits are $30 and include everything you need to get started. Supplies are limited, so purchase your kit online to secure your spot before they disappear. Come stitch, stab, and create something of your own. 🧵
